To get actively involved:
a. the Discussion Moderator will start a Conversation thread (discussion) related to Formative Assessment in EFL Blended Instruction by Wednesday.
b. the Conversation wrapper will end up the Conversation thread by Sunday, by making general conclusion of the colleagues' shared opinions as answers to the Moderator's prompt.

Dear colleagues! We had been learning and getting acquainted with so many precious techniques and methods of teaching, that is not a mere approach, but even engagement into something extremely interesting and new both for us and our students as well. Since this challenging process started, we all have been transformed into creatures, who are eager to know more and more, and to implement it right away.
ReplyDeleteThis last Assignment #6 that we had -- Formative Assessment in EFL Blended Instruction—opens even more possibilities to implement into teaching work various methods and techniques.
Now, having this fabulous opportunity to communicate in the Discussion Forum, let me set a slightly different vector and suggest us a way of communicating on the issue, after watching 2 videos.
So, we don’t leave the grass grow under our feet and start to introduce into our discussion the newly learned tools.
We had been reading a lot, studying and implementing, fulfilling and creating. Now it is time for us to be in the shoes of students and instructor simultaneously.
After getting informed about Formative assessment and the types of Rubrics in this session, let us watch and listen to the students’ works and explain what are the strongest points in here and what we (each of us) would elaborate, develop and make better, taking into account the strategies and types and criteria of assessments.

The student (in the movenote) has a clear picture about the structure an essay should follow and she is aware of the fact that there is no planning stage in her work. Still there is a progress if compare the first and the last composition.
ReplyDeleteIn order to help the learners, I would introduce the plan / outline as a part of he essay. It means I would give point for the essay as well as for the plan and I must introduce one more criteria for this in the rubric. It could motivate her to plan and make a better conclusion.
Regarding the second students (VoiceThread), she has a good pronunciation and proper speed. It is good that the learner is using pictures / photos to visualize the message.
However, some of the ideas (and the pictures assessing them) have been enunciated more than once and the presentation was boring at times.
I would introduce the limit of 40 slides as the criterion when assessing the work and I would penalize, if the same idea is repeated many times.
